The Unknown Number - Blogepisode 02

I was collecting and arranging the process document and making the training plan. Deepak came and ask me to accompany him for a smoke. [Sorry, sorry, I did not introduce Deepak with you all. We were in the same batch and the same class but never interacted until the fresher's party event. When he helped me to reach to the fresher's party when my bike broke down and unfortunately, no repair shop was around.   Deepak was very good in Academics, well-built GABRU, great dancer, and a good friend; too. I am sure so many girls had a crush on him. Ok, Let's stop “Deepak’s Thesis” and we will continue it later on.

It took 2 minutes to finish my ongoing task and join him. This is the only thing I hate about him. He uses to smoke around10-15 cigarettes a day. While going down, we grabbed a cup of tea and went straight to the smoking zone. This reminds me of an incident on “Chai and Sutta”. I never understand who made this combination of “Chai and Sutta”? Once I asked one of my flatmate, who is very fond of having chai and sutta together , he explained and gave me a very irrelevant reason, “bhai, isse pressure mast banta hai”, I was like, f**k you man, if you have two glass of water, you will get the same joy. Crazy people. Jokes apart.

I saw a familiar face in the bunch of smokers, yes, it was Anu, and she was wearing “a black suit with white flowers on it and white salwar”. (Maan to kia seeti maar dun, but I have to maintain the decorum). This scene reminded me of a few lines,
Kala suit te kali chunni, utte full kadhai da,
Ik te teri yaad satave, dujja fikar padhai da”
She came with loose hairs, and her hair fluttered in the air. I was almost swept off my feet when she adjusted those extra strands of hairs from her face with her finger. “Let it be, let it be”, [I was shouting inside myself]

“Oye Khoye Khoye Chaand”Deepak tap me.
“han, han bhai, Sahi bol raha hai tu”I told him, try to cover my absence with my agreement.
“Teri property mangi hai maine, kab sign kar raha hai”, Deepak asked me, with a wicked smile.
Now, I am back in my sense, and immediately.
“Ye kya bakwas hai”, I replied, strangely. I was afraid did he notice me when I was checking out her.
“bencho, main tujhse bat kar raha hu, or tera dhyan pata nahi kahan hai”, Deepak said.
“Are nahi yar, tu bol kya baat karni thi”I replied.

Deepak comes up with few points on how to prepare for the competition. However, I was still stuck at her. We were back at our desk after 15 minutes. I saw unusual happiness on the floor, and then I came to know the management has planned a “Get Together Party” on coming weekend.

I wrote a message for Anu on the communicator, as she was appearing offline, “you should not go to the smoking area, not good for your health”, and minimize the window, within a second, she replied. Oh, really”, it was Anu.
Anu – “Please give me the contact no. of the doctor who advises you to go there,”(with an angry smiley.)
I -“J it's not like that.”
Anu -“Then what it is?”
I -“Deepak had something to discuss, so I had to accompany him.
Anu -“Oh, so you are the reason behind this,”
I -“Behind what”
Anu -“Your best friend gave us so many process documents to cram. Tell me one thing, are we in a school.”
[I can feel her anger, but couldn’t do anything.]
I just said, “Hmm.”

After lunch, around 4 PM, I felt like asking her for tea, and just type “Tea”, but I got her message first, tea? I smiled, and said, sure.
Anu -“Sorry, Ravi sir”
I -“Why, what for?”
Anu -“My behavior, it was not right”
I -“That’s ok, Chill. Kuch khaoge( do you want to have something to eat?)
Anu -“Samosa, with red chutney”
(I placed the order and was waiting for the tea and samosas)
Anu -“Are you coming for the party?
I -“Yes, of course. How will you go? Do you know the venue? ” [although I was hoping she would ask, “Can we go together?”[However, it is not necessary what we think, will happens in reality.]
Therefore, she said, yes I know, and will hire an OLA or an UBER.
Cool, I said.
Ok Anu, let's go; I have a meeting with my team. See you in CAB.
Anu, without wasting time, Can I also attend the session?
I said, sure, but with Deepak’s permission, and laughed.
She raised her eyebrows and gave me look.

Finally, the day arrived, for the party and like me, everyone was excited for that. However, I was excited or was eagerly waiting to see her, cuz I am sure she would be looking breathtaking today.
Deepak and I with other leads reached at the venue before other people arrived. All the girls who were average looking in normal days were looking beautiful. This reminded me of the day of our school farewell, when my friends and I were not able to recognize any of the girls. We were like, “koi version upgrade hoa Kya? “However, my eyes were still waiting to see only one amongst all, Anu. There she was, in a Royal blue Sari with Black blouse. My heart just skipped a beat. She saw me while entering in the hall, and made an eye contact and asked, “How am I looking?” I just made a “wao expression” and said wah.

Then the party began with a welcome speech by the AVP, followed by the ramp walk performance by fresher’s. Ramp walk begin with individual entry, and couple walk, after that. Honestly, when Anu, started walking, entire audience were shouting, and whistling, of course I was one of them.  Jury had to select the best pair amongst them, and there was no doubt who the winner was going to be, yes, it was Anu’s pair. Later, I came to know that her partner was from my team. I congratulated both and took a selfie with them; this was my first pic with her. Now the DJ started and everybody was on the dance floor. I saw all the fresher’s were shouting and dancing. Deepak and I were at bar counter and having beer, after 3-4 pints Deepak pulled me on the dance floor, when DJ played an old Punjabi track“Ishq Tera Tadpave”. Anu joined us with her friends after some time.

It was 1:30 AM when the party was finally over and everybody were heading towards their home. CABs were arranged for everyone. Deepak, Anu and I were in the same cab. Anu told me, she never knew Deepak could be so interactive. We dropped her first, and then went to my place. We continued our party with a half bottle whiskey, at my home. I saw a message on my mobile, from an unknown number – I enjoyed a lot, thankyou Ravi “Sir”. Ha ha. Gudnyt.
